The haunt will be CLOSED for the rest of the season due to heavy damage.
For the 2012 season, Scared by the Sound is expanding with two additional all
new and exciting Halloween themed attractions combined for one additional low
cost ticket. Located outdoors in the same area next to the original haunt, these
too are open rain or shine.
The Demented Pumpkin Patch
Part one of two all new optional attractions (located across from the original
Scared by the Sound Haunted House) this Pumpkin Patch is like no other.
Intricately carved and lit gourds adorn this walking path which is closely guarded
by its' demented inhabitants. Pumpkins such as these were originally meant to
ward off roaming ghosts and spirits, but at this site they actually attract these
sorry souls. Enter and see for yourself if you dare!
Terror Trail
Part two of this new optional ticket purchase finds visitors wandering through
dark farmland and amongst the corn stalks. Who inhabits this property at night
and why have we been warned of their presence? Approaching the entrance to
the Slaughter House there is no choice but to enter and witness in person the
horror within. Should one be lucky enough to exit with all their limbs, there is still
the farms' owner and hired hands to contend with. Few would ever dare to tempt
fate and trespass again once they're safely off the property.
This is a walk-through dark attraction. Night time event may be too scary for children under 8 years of age, alone or with an adult. Strobe lighting and fog may be in use during this night time event. Persons adversely affected by these effects are advised not to enter.

Q: Is this a ride?
A: No. The main Haunt is a walk-through style Haunted house constructed within two
semi-enclosed 10,000 sq ft pavilions. Custom built exclusively for use during the month
of October, this detailed haunt will bring you face to face with your worst fears and
phobias. New for our 13th year The Pumpkin Patch and Terror Trail is located adjacent
to the indoor haunt. This also is a walking experience but totally outdoors unprotected
from the elements and lost wandering souls.
Q: How long does it take?
A: Depending on the night, wait times on line vary with busier nights and longer wait times
being closer to Halloween. The timed experience in both events average 20 and 18
minutes respectively. Come earlier in the month for the same bone chilling experience
with less wait times on line.
Q: Is the haunt handicap accessible?
A: Yes. For the main Haunt a member of the group must stand on line while the
wheelchair and occupant along with an aid wait closer to the entrance awaiting their turn
to enter. This avoids having to traverse the entire queue by wheelchair. The Pumpkin
Patch and Terror Trail, being located outdoors, could be more challenging to navigate
and especially during or after wet weather.
Q: Is there food?
A: A concession stand is open during event hours.
Q: What if it rains?
A: The event is open rain or shine with free parking located a short distance from the
courtyard and ticket booth. The Main Haunt and queue are protected from the elements.
The Pumpkin Patch and Terror Trail are outdoors.
Q: How much are tickets and where can I buy them?
Tickets may be purchased anytime on-line and at the ticket booth located in the
Playland Courtyard on the nights we are open. Main Haunt tickets cost $16.00 for
adults and $12.00 for children under 12. All Matinee tickets cost $5.00. All Pumpkin
Patch and Terror Trail tickets are $12.00. Discount Combo tickets for both events are
available. Credit cards are not accepted at the ticket booth but an ATM is located a few
steps away.
Q: How many people are allowed in at a time?
A: Groups are limited to a maximum of 7 persons at a time with some exceptions made when smaller persons make up part of group wishing to confront the unknown together.
Q: How long does it take?
A: Depending on the night, wait times on line vary with busier nights being closer to Halloween. Come earlier in the month for the same bone chilling experience. The actual haunt is twenty to twenty five minutes that may seem like an eternity.
Q: What if it's too scary?
A: If at any time a person decides the haunt is more than they can deal with they can tell any of the personnel inside of their desire to leave. They will be promptly and immediately escorted out through one of the interior exits. Upon exiting they will not be allowed back in the haunt but will instead be instructed on where they can reunite with their group. In addition there are NO REFUNDS.
Q: Will any of the actors touch me?
A: No! There is a no contact rule in this haunt that includes patrons. You do not touch anyone or anything and you will not be touched. Should intentional touching by a patron occur you will be immediately escorted off the premises without completing the event.
Q: Are there pictures allowed inside?
A: No. No cameras, camcorders, cell phones, glow sticks, flashlights or any other source of artificial light is permitted.
Q: Can I go in again after I've made it through once?
A: No. There is no free re-admission. You are encouraged to purchase another ticket to experience the haunt again.
Q: Do you have party facilities available?
A: The Playland Ice Casino has rooms and skating packages available. Call 914-813-7010.
Q: Do you have any job openings?
A: We are always looking to recruit, especially persons of high energy with a unique talent, personal appearance or that certain personality. Call 914-490-1992.
